Crayola
Crayola has always been a colour company, ever since its establishment pre 1900s. It was originated when brothers Edwin Binney and C. Harold Smith took over Edwin’s father pigment business in 1885. More than 120 years later, colour- along with creativity and most of all fun- are the hallmark of the company.
The Crayola timeline
It wasn’t until 1903 that Crayola developed their now infamous creation, wax crayons. Noticing a need for safe, quality, affordable crayons the cousin combination developed the first box of crayons, selling for a nickel. Throughout the 1940s-50s an educational program was introduced to inform teachers about the many ways to use the growing number of Crayola products. Then in 1958 the 64-colour assortment of crayons- with the built in sharpener- debuts. In the 70s Crayola saw the introduction of the Silly Putty to their empire as well as the Crayola markers. In the following decade Crayola introduces Washable Markers, an instant hit with kids, teacher and moms; Crayola coloured pencils also arrive. Today Crayola have introduced the Crayola Factory whereby visitors can encounter the Crayola experience in America and continues to grow by adding new products based on value, technical innovation, high quality, consumer satisfaction, and of course, colour and fun!
