Scissors
These really are one of the most important tools in your crafting tool kit. When you begin paper crafting you will probably use whichever pair of scissors you happen to have at home, but once you get hooked on this wonderful hobby you will no doubt want a pair (or two or three!) that is designed for the techniques you like to use.
Using Correct Scissors
Non-stick scissors are just that; if you cut something that is self-adhesive the glue won't stick to the blades of the scissors. Pointed scissors are great for getting into little spaces, such as trimming covered chipboard or cutting round peel-off stickers. There are also decorative scissors which produce a patterned edge to your paper.
