Sakura
Originally a crayon company established in 1921, Sakura then expanded into oil and pastel paints which led to the development of Pigma Ink over 50 years later. The company heritage in art materials led to the development of a specialised ink technology, Pigma Ink, which is used in micron, graphic and brush pens. The breakthrough came with the discovery of how to reduce the pigment particles to submicron size so the inks flow evenly through the narrowest of pen nibs.
Technological breakthroughs
Sakura are proud of their technological innovations throughout the years; introducing the first gel- based ink pen in 1984, Glaze pens in 2003 and most recently the Souffle pen in 2005. The inventive inks write with a raised effect similar to embossing without the need for heat tools or powders. The 3-D inks can write on multiple surfaces such as paper, glass, ceramics, metals and plastics enabling the most recent pens to be able to embellishments items such as mobile phones and MP3 players!
